Unlocking the Unthinkable: A Public Sector Client’s Journey to the Perfect Oracle Consultant

Our customer, a UK public sector health organisation, was embarking on a major business wide ERP transformation programme which was underpinned by the implementation of Oracle Cloud ERP/Finance, HCM, Payroll, PPM, Procurement and Supply Chain.

With a System Integrator (SI) selected to lead the implementation, our client was now able to start building a business side programme team, initially looking to appoint a Programme Director with deep experience in successfully delivering large scale Oracle Cloud implementation programmes.

The role was as much about finding the right experience as it was the person and by that we’re talking about someone with the aptitude to operate in the public sector and the ability to build confidence with the main programme board.

Oracle Contractors we’re recommended to the client by another client based on the work we had done for them and were immediately engaged exclusively to provide suitable Programme Director candidates.

We were able to provide a comprehensive shortlist for review, all with varying experiences. The client wanted to speak to a variety of candidates to get a feel for what they wanted. I don’t think they really knew what they wanted and much like buying a car, they wanted to test drive several cars from various brands to get a feel – deciding what they wanted and what was important throughout the process.

After several first round interviews, the client had identified a candidate that they felt had the right credential to lead them. Following a second round interview the CEO and completion of our vetting and referencing process, our Programme Director was offered and the contract was accepted.

Following the Programme Director, we were then instructed to help with the initial client side team consisting of an Oracle Cloud Enterprise Solutions Architect, Oracle Cloud Finance Consultant, Oracle Cloud PPM Lead, Oracle Cloud Payroll Lead and an Oracle Cloud HCM Lead.

The resources were required to have in-depth knowledge of the specific module functionality and to lead and drive design workshops.
